Mobile Browsing is Taking Over
In UncategorizedAs mobile usage continuously increases, it is hard not to see a change in consumer behaviour. Just recently for the first time ever, mobile internet use has passed the desktop. Earlier this week, mobile and tablet usage accounted for 51.3 percent of internet usage whereas the other 48.7 percent was desktop usage. These numbers show a big shift in the way companies and businesses will have to adapt their mindset. Since 2009-2010 there has been a steady trend in consumer behaviour, showing the eventual switch between desktop and mobile usage. We have just hit the overlapping point, and one can only imagine that internet usage will continue to swap in this pattern.
This statistic ultimately shows the trend on a Global Scale, meaning that there are countries that still have higher internet usage on desktop. What this trend tells us is the idea that a lot more effort will need to be put into the mobile market. Company efforts, although already strategically allotted towards mobile, will only be increased as internet browsing and usage increases over time. For example, all Online Marketing Services such as Organic Search Optimization, Paid Search Marketing, or even Social Media Marketing should be done with a “mobile mentality”. Does this mean that the desktop could soon be forgotten? Although it is obviously too early to think that way, consumer behaviour is never certain and for all we know a newer technology could be adopted later on. This information can be very useful to businesses looking to increase their reach or brand. At VCOMP Inc. our specialists stay in sync with the rapidly changing areas of technology, and keeping up with the trends is something we pride ourselves on.
